3. Oh, and there is another S: simple. Simple language in post and headlines makes reading easier!

4. Link, link, link! Add links to relevant websites and blogs because people tend to click and bounce around the internet; they do not usually stay very long on any one page. Try to link to blogs or websites on the same or similar topics.

5. Think about rankings and use key words when writing content

This is my literal ordering of the list. I ordered it this way because I think the most important aspect of a blog is whether is is unique and interesting. Without interesting material, regardless of how pretty the layout of the site is, the blog will not rise to the top. The next most important things are a combination of keeping the layout organized, fun to read and as an overall lure for readers and making the blog get hits though linking and keywords that can be searched. I would say both of these tasks are equally important. If no one hears about your blog than it will not become popular, but if the layout is a block text with no headings or pictures to draw readers it still won't become popular. Targeting your readers is fairly low on my list because I think that if any kind of person is interested and reads regardless if they are your target or not then you are doing well. With that said, knowing your audience is a key component in knowing how to style your blog.

Do I have to write an explanation like max? Mine's basically based on keeping your blog short, relevant, and pretty. I can go into more detail in class if you want.

For me, many of these tips were the same as a previous tip, just rephrased. On any note, I found that it was hard to order them because in my mind, many of them are equally important and should be next to one another in importance. I, like McWell think that making sure your blog content is unique and useful is what a blogger should focus on. You want to create a blog that has original ideas that gives your distinctive view. Next, I think that in order for your blog to get hits on google or another search engine, it needs to have keywords that will be one of the top hits on the page. On a different note, a blog needs to not be overwhelmed by text and there has to be a balance of pictures, multimedia and links to other resources. This adds to the interactive feel of a blog and in my mind, a major factor in a blogs effectiveness is how it can have a conversation with its readers. We are all busy people. But, as a blogger, making sure your blog has constancy is key to keeping your readers and followers captivated and interested in your blog. If your blog has posts infrequently, people will lose interest and your blog will decrease in popularity. Similarly to making sure your blog headlines pop up in search engines, having them integrated through Facebook, twitter, and other social networking sites are great resources to utilize in order for your blog gain popularity and interest. Keeping a headline short and simple is important because as a blogger, you want to make the main focus be the content in the blog. The title should not say it all. Like I have said before, a blog is a way for an individual to express themselves and share what they feel is important. While appealing to a wide audience can be good at times, I believe surveying would be too much work and take your attention from what is important in your blogs which is sharing your interests.

  4. my order would be 1, 2, 3, 5, 12, 11, 4, 7, 8, 9, 14, and 13.

To become a blog which would be loved by many people, blog should be concise and creative as a priority. Then, second priority should be information such as links, visual images, and etc. The reason why conciseness and creativity should be mainly discussed is that bloggers need to attract as many as readers first. If bloggers just post bunch of information, then readers would feel bored and would not pay careful attention into content. However, if blog contains creative and concise materials, then readers would be attracted by those factors. So, they would pay more attention. I am not saying information is not important. AFter bloggers success to attract readers, then information would become really important part of it. But, concise and interesting information should be required for better blog.

So I put them in this order, because I felt like blogging should be more focused on geting people to see the material itself, and linking and quoting a lot of times are excused even if it is not done; in fact, a lot of blogs do not tag or link other sites. And even if there is no such links, bloggers suceed. So I put the major ways of forming, posting, and refininf texts and other medias first, then maybe trivial things like setting up calenders next, then linking the sources or related materials.

There’s not much else to say that hasn’t already been said, but the bottom line is this; creativity, originality, simplicity, consistency, and organization are what’s going to make a blog popular. If someone can do this successfully, they will easily become a well-known blogger.

I ordered these posts according to what seemed to be three main ideas: originality and creativity of the poster, organization both within blog posts and regarding the website, and community. I believe that first and foremost, you need to have something interesting to say; otherwise your blog will be lame and shallow. Secondly, you need to provide a convenient way for the reader to access all of your information, as well as a pleasing aesthetic that fits thematically with your blog. And last of all, you need to interact with the community, let them know that you appreciate their support and also their feedback, which will also improve the first two items. These final two ideas, while very important for many readers, must always be secondary in importance in order to truly write a successful blog.

when looking through the list i found that many of the suggestions were not ideal for the type of blog i want to write, that is because blogs about miniature gaming and hobbying tend to be aimed at the hard core hobbyists who know the language of other hobbyists but of course it must no be so detailed that you'd need an art degree to decipher the meaning. i placed photos and lists near the top because hobby is a very image based hobby (activity for those non hobbyists) and well taken pictures of cool models are what attract us and make us look at the long lists of paint blends and their ratios and glazes and highlights.
